Home/Areas We Serve/Maryland

Interior Design in Maryland

Maryland is served from the studio in Washington, D.C. We take remodels, whole-home renovations and new-build interiors across the state’s D.C.-adjacent counties and beyond.

Remodelling a house you already own

Much of the Maryland enquiry we receive is about a house that works in principle and fails in practice: a kitchen in the wrong place, a formal room nobody sits in, a top floor that never became the space it should be. Building a home or renovating a room can be a stressful process, and the value of a designer is as much in problem-solving and sequencing as in selecting finishes.

We guide the client’s vision toward homes which stand the test of time, rather than following whatever the current trend happens to be — which is the point, if you intend to stay.

Where a remodel touches structure, we work alongside your architect and contractor rather than handing a scheme over and stepping away. The details that decide whether a renovation feels considered are usually settled on site, with the walls open, and that is where a designer earns their place on the project.

Designing for how the house is actually used

The joy and comfort of a stylish space has to reflect the client’s aspiration, so we start with how the household actually lives: who cooks, where people land when they come through the door, which rooms earn their floor area and which do not.

Careful consideration is given to the use of space, and to how scale and form affect an effortless outcome — all with attention to quality in reaching a refined finish.

Working from Washington, D.C.

Our built portfolio sits in the District and in London; Maryland projects are run from the D.C. studio, close enough to be on site as often as the work requires.

Interior and landscape design are both available, together or separately.
